Pear Production in Russia: Operational Statistics

According to AB-Centre.ru estimates, pear production in Russia’s commercial horticulture sector from the beginning of the season up to and including August 31, 2026, exceeded 2.8 thousand tons.

Wholesale Pear Prices in Russia

The expansion of production volumes has led to a drop in both wholesale and retail prices. The price decline is further driven by the intensification of production in the non-commercial sector (rural households), as well as in neighboring countries supplying pears to Russia, where seasonal price weakening is also being observed.

According to AB-Centre.ru, as of August 26, 2026, average wholesale pear prices in Russia stood at 82.5 RUB/kg (excluding VAT), which is 27.3% lower than a month earlier. Concurrently, the average minimum price was 55.9 RUB/kg, while the average maximum price was 110.3 RUB/kg.

Prices were somewhat lower in the South of Russia (where Russia’s pear production is concentrated). The average price there stood at 78.5 RUB/kg, with the average minimum price at 51.9 RUB/kg and the average maximum price at 100.8 RUB/kg.

Retail Pear Prices in Russia

Following wholesale prices, retail pear prices have also begun to weaken. According to AB-Centre, average retail pear prices in Moscow (based on a cross-section of the capital’s federal retail chains) stood at 275.2 RUB/kg in July and 250.7 RUB/kg in August. Specifically, as of August 28, prices stood at 247.7 RUB/kg. The average minimum price was 169.4 RUB/kg, while the average maximum price reached 340.6 RUB/kg.

Pear Production and Imports in Russia by Year

To recall, in 2025, Russia’s total pear production across all farm categories amounted to 313.6 thousand tons, according to Rosstat. Of this volume, the commercial horticulture sector accounted for a mere 6.0 thousand tons, while the remaining 307.6 thousand tons were produced by rural households. Meanwhile, AB-Centre estimates that pear imports last year exceeded 160.0 thousand tons.
