To recall, the decline in apple prices throughout July and the first half of August was driven by an expanding supply of early apples from the new harvest in Russia’s southern regions.

In the second half of August, a slight upward price correction was observed. This trend was partially fueled by the depreciation of the national currency (which drives up import costs) and an increasing supply of early apples from the Central and Volga Federal Districts, where prices are somewhat higher than in the South of Russia, thereby pushing up the overall average.

Furthermore, the variety mix of apples on offer has shifted over the past two weeks, further impacting the average price formation.

While early varieties (such as Geneva, Pirus, and Williams Erly) dominated the new harvest in the first half of August, the second half of the month marked the start of the harvest for Gala, Golden Delicious, Simirenko, and other varieties.
