The Russian Egg Market: Wholesale and Retail Prices for May 2026
🥚 Wholesale Prices. In April 2026, average wholesale prices for chicken eggs stood at 84.6 RUB/ten excl. VAT, according to Rosstat. This is 0.7% higher than in March 2026 and 17.4% above the price level from a year ago. May traditionally sees a seasonal softening of prices.

📉 Operational statistics for selected regions of the Russian Federation show a 12.0% decrease in prices during the first two decades of May 2026 compared to the same period last month. Over the past 5 years, the country’s average price decline in May relative to April has been 6.9%. Based on this, AB-Centre estimates that average wholesale prices nationwide in May could drop to 76.9 RUB/ten (-9.0% vs. April, but +20.3% vs. May last year).
📊 Production. Egg production continues to rise in 2026. In January–April 2026, production in the country’s agricultural enterprises reached 13.5 billion pieces, compared to 13.1 billion pieces during the same period last year. This includes just over 3.4 billion pieces produced in April 2026. Compared to March, production decreased by 3.2%, but it grew by the same 3.2% compared to April 2025.
🛒 Retail Prices. As of May 18, 2026, average retail prices for chicken eggs were 109.1 RUB/ten, according to Rosstat. They decreased by 1.9% over the week and by 4.7% over the month, though they strengthened by 11.0% year-on-year.
